BIO

Welcome to my website! As an art educator with over a decade of experience, I am deeply passionate about exploring the artistic process and its inherent healing power. My own artistic practice prioritizes spontaneity and inner connection, steering away from perfect technique and hyperrealism, which do not resonate with me. Through my YouTube channel, I guide individuals from all backgrounds in enhancing their artistic skills and knowledge while nurturing their emotional and spiritual well-being. Together, we embark on a journey to decolonize art education and embrace the beauty of creativity, allowing each unique voice to shine. Join me in this exploration of art as a transformative practice!

Me and my work in NYC

ARTISTIC HISTORY

I began my journey as a self-taught artist 12 years ago in Miami and expanded my artistic knowledge and process in North Carolina. This experience allowed me to collaborate with various local art centers and galleries, showcasing my work in both solo and group exhibitions. My creative process is centered on inner exploration, drawing connections from my life experiences, culture and memories. I've had the privilege of working with the Carrboro Art Center, Sertoma Art Gallery, Green Hill Art Center, and The Pleiades Gallery. During the pandemic, I transitioned to online sales, and for three years in Utah, my work was featured at the Midway Art Gallery. My focus lies in colors and textures, which I explore through a diverse range of techniques.

Artist, Art Educator, Fine Crafter

November 2012 – present

I began my path as a private school art teacher and art camp curator and coordinator in Miami, Florida. Once I moved to North Carolina, I taught art to middle schoolers while working as a rotating artist-in-residence at the local Carrboro Arts Center. I won two prestigious residencies in Raleigh, NC (Sertoma Art Gallery) and Greensboro, NC (GreenHill) for my project Suspended. I later participated in two juried art shows (Truth to Power 2018 & 2019) by Pleiades Art in Durham, NC, as well as several collective local exhibits.

During the covid-19 pandemic I was in New York City, and finding spaces and live events became almost impossible. That’s when I decided to showcase my fine crafts and artwork online. Fortunately, people responded very positively to my online presence, and I was able to sell many pieces in the United States and Europe.

Now I’m in Utah, my family’s new home, where I organize and participate in local fine arts markets. I’m also a member of the Midway Art Association, where I displayed from February to April 2024.

Art City Council, Art Programs Coordinator

August 2020 – present

As an artist and art educator, I value the role of the arts in my community. I'm an advocate for high-quality art education for all, and I volunteer as a Visual Art Expert at the Saratoga Springs Arts Council. I also collaborate with the city of Bluffdale (UT), where my school is located, to organize exhibits, contests, and events that bridge arts and communities as well as opportunities for my students to positively contribute to their environment.
